Firmware updates improve device stability, add new capabilities, and may address known issues. Kio Setup Manager notifies you when updates are available and performs the upgrade process over Bluetooth and your device's Internet connection. Keep your mobile device near the device throughout the update.
Before you begin
- Signed in to Kio Setup Manager with the Device Management role
- The device is within Bluetooth range of your mobile device
- Mobile device has an Internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)
- Your mobile device has sufficient battery to complete the update
Update a single device
- Tap the device you want to update > tap Show Details.
- If a firmware update is available, a notification appears in the detail view. Tap Upgrade firmware (version).
- Review the firmware version details and tap Start update.
- Keep your mobile device near the device and keep the screen active while the update is applied over Bluetooth.
- When the update is complete, Kio Setup Manager shows a confirmation message and the new firmware version number.
Important: Do not close Kio Setup Manager or allow your mobile device to lock during a firmware update. Interrupting the transfer may leave the device in an error state that requires recovery. If the screen times out, the update may fail. Adjust your device's screen timeout or auto-lock setting to keep the screen on during the update.
Find all devices with pending firmware updates
- Tap Devices in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Filter > select Pending operations > select Firmware update > tap Apply.
- The filtered list shows all devices with available firmware updates.
- Tap each device in turn and follow the single-device update steps above.
What happens next
The updated device restarts automatically after a successful firmware update and returns to normal operation within approximately 30–60 seconds. Verify the device is reporting correctly in Device Management before leaving the site.
