Tags are mobile BLE devices worn by staff or attached to assets. Kio Setup Manager lets you view tag status and telemetry, update firmware, validate placement, and physically locate a specific tag over Bluetooth directly from your mobile device.
Tags do not have an installation workflow in Kio Setup Manager. They appear in your device inventory once claimed and are managed from the Devices screen.

View device details — See the tag's Unique ID, firmware version, battery level, and live telemetry including button events, movement, and environmental readings when the tag is within Bluetooth range.
Evaluate location — Checks whether the tag's Bluetooth signal coverage aligns with its assigned Smart Location room. Useful when there is a discrepancy between a tag's location in Kio Cloud and its real-time physical position.
Track your device — Shows your proximity to the tag based on its Bluetooth signal strength (RSSI), helping you locate a lost or hard-to-spot device. Available for Asset Tag, Smart Badge, and Nano Tag.
Firmware upgrade — Check for and apply firmware updates over Bluetooth. Available for Asset Tag and Smart Badge only.
Flash LED — Blinks the tag's LED briefly to visually identify a specific device. Available for Asset Tag and Smart Badge only.
Activate (NFC) — Sticker Tags require NFC activation before they can broadcast and report data. This is a one-time step performed in Kio Setup Manager. See Activate a Sticker Tag.
IR tag devices
Smart Badges, Asset Tag 2, Asset Tags, and the Nano Tag IR have an infrared receiver (IR). When a Beam Mini or Portal Beam is deployed in IR mode in the same space, the tag devices (with IR enabled) receive the room number broadcasted by a beam, enabling room-level location certainty.
