A responder's campus location access and app permissions are managed in the Kio Cloud Users app by those assigned to the User Management Administrator role:
- Campus access is granted in the responder's user profile. A profile can provide access to all campuses or only specific campuses. In the mobile app, the location selection lists only the campuses granted to a user's profile.
- App permissions are granted through roles. Each Kio App has its own roles, and each role provides a defined set of permissions.
A responder needs both to ensure they have access to the alerts at the locations they are responsible for and permissions required for access to the mobile app. With Staff Safe roles but no campus access, a responder can sign in but sees no alerts, and the app shows There are no campuses available for your account.
Required Staff Safe roles
A responder requires two Staff Safe roles — one for access, one for actionsTh:
| Role | Permission |
|---|---|
| Staff Safe Mobile User | Sign in to the app and view active alerts |
| Administrator, User, or Alerts User (any one) | Acknowledge and resolve alerts |
Assigned Mobile User alone, a responder can sign in and view active alerts but cannot acknowledge or resolve them.
The same Staff Safe roles also control access to the Staff Safe web app, and each role grants a different level of access there. For details about all Staff Safe roles, see About user access to Staff Safe.
How roles and campuses are assigned
- Without SSO: A user with the User Management Administrator role assigns roles and campuses directly in the Users app.
- With SSO: Roles and campuses are assigned through your identity provider (IdP). The Users app shows role and campus assignments as view-only.ye
