A user's phone number is the number used when that person is selected as a recipient of a text message or phone call notification from an Alert Rule. A user without a phone number is not texted or called, and no error is shown, so add one for anyone who needs to be reached that way.
A phone number can be added or changed at any time after the user is created. It can also be entered when you first add the user. See Add a user.
Before you start
- Required role: User Management Administrator
- Edit appears only for users who sign in with a password. An SSO user's phone number comes from your identity provider and cannot be changed in the Users app. See SSO and managed users.
- Use international format with a country code, such as +14155550123. Spaces, parentheses, and hyphens are removed automatically. If the number is not in a valid format, the form shows Phone number invalid (use +1234567890).
Steps
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Users.
- From the side menu, select Users Management.
- Select the user.
- On the Profile section, select Edit.
- Enter or change the Phone Number, then select Save.
Clearing the field removes the number.
The Users list does show Phone Number and the list can then be sorted by it.
What to do next
To use the number, select the user as a recipient on an Alert Rule's Actions step. Recipients selected as Users or User groups take their phone number from the user profile, so the number stays current without editing each rule.
