Release date: May 22, 2024
We're thrilled to announce the release of Managed Firmware Upgrades — a game changing feature for those with a Kontakt.io Portal Light infrastructure.
If you don't have a Portal Light infrastructure, firmware upgrades for your Kontakt.io BLE-only Tag and Infrastructure devices are still required to performed locally onsite with the Kio Setup Manager mobile app or through our mobile SDKs.
Only applies to our first generation Portal Light - does not apply to Portal Light 2 models released in late 2023.
When a Portal Light has been offline and not connected to Kio Cloud for awhile, it may be at firmware below version 2.9.6 and is required to be upgraded to version 3.0.0 by our Technical Support Team. If you have any Portal Lights below firmware version 2.96, submit a request for assistance. In addition. this firmware release also includes changes to its LED status indicator. This LED change ensures consistency across the Kontakt.io Portal Light models. |
To check your Portal Lights, sign in to Kio Cloud, go to Device Management 2.0 > select Infrastructure > set a filter by Product> set to Is > your Portal Light model(s) > view the Firmware version column.
From Kio Cloud Device Management 2.0, you first need to Enable Managed Firmware Upgrades and set a Firmware Window Schedule that defines the days of the week and time periods when firmware updates occur. This is a one-time setup step and can be updated as needed.
You will need to schedule a firmware upgrade for your devices to update to the next available firmware version.
With Managed Firmware Upgrades, you can:
-
Schedule an upgrade for all devices with an available upgrade, or limit the upgrade to a subset of devices.
-
Choose one of two scheduling options to control precisely when devices receive the firmware upgrade.
The power of Managed Firmware Upgrades provides organizations with greater control and efficiency by scheduling firmware upgrades for their entire fleet of Kontakt.io IoT devices.
