This month brings powerful new tools and enhancements across the Kontakt.io platform—from streamlined asset imports and exports, new analytics, improved navigation, and a Portal Light firmware release. Explore what’s new and see how these updates can help you get even more out of your Kontakt.io solutions.
Topics include:
The new step-by-step Import Wizard makes it easier to add or update assets in Asset Tracker. The wizard provides a ready-to-use CSV template and real-time feedback and error handling.

The new Export Wizard makes it easy to generate a CSV file of your asset data—including their last known location and full asset details. You can choose which fields to include or exclude, so you export only what you need—perfect for reviewing, sharing, or working with your data outside the platform. The export file is also compatible with the Import Wizard, making it simple to update hundreds or thousands of assets at once.
From the Analytics Advanced menu, the new Utilization tab provides enhanced metrics along with filtering capabilities. Utilization metrics do require Room Matching and Room Type Entity (Asset) Type Status Rules—if you want to learn more about this setup, reach out to us.
You can now view all Rental assets using the Acquisition Type filter in Asset Search and Asset Management—previously limited to filtering by rental duration or due date.

We've improved the PAR Levels screen to make navigation more intuitive and reduce repetitive filter selections. When you select a Location (campus + building), the app auto-selects the first floor and the most relevant room type—prioritizing “clean” or “storage.” Your selections are also remembered during your session for faster navigation.

Users assigned to the Search User role now have access only to the Assets Search menu. Map View and PAR Levels have been removed to keep the experience focused on locating assets and reducing potential confusion with access to more than they need.
Make sure your Kio mobile apps are up to date to get the latest features, improvements, and fixes.
iOS version 5.0.11 and Android version 3.2.1

Cisco Spaces sign-in enhancement—for use when integrated with the Portal Beam Plugin.
When selecting Cisco Spaces Account, users are now automatically redirected to the Cisco Spaces sign in to authenticate. The manual “Select Region” screen has been eliminated.
Make sure your Kontakt.io devices are at the latest firmware version to get the latest features, improvements, and fixes. To update your Portal Lights, you will need to schedule a firmware upgrade.
Version 1.5.2 includes:
- Smarter firmware upgrades. Extended timeout durations during Device Firmware Updates (DFU) to fix upgrade failures seen with older devices like Puck Beacon v2.2.7.
- More reliable EAP network connection. Fixed issues during EAP re-authentication that could occur in low-memory conditions.
- 5GHz Wi-Fi fixes. Resolved cases where 5GHz networks didn’t work on some devices by detecting and correcting unset efuse values.
- Better certificate management. Added support for optional CA public key verification to avoid unnecessary user-required certificate updates when they expire.
MQTT endpoints have been added to the Portal Light network requirements. Existing deployments aren’t affected, but we recommend including these new endpoints for all future deployments or updates.
For our integrators, you can now filter Channels by Device Model and Campus, and safely manage Subscriptions by adding or removing channel IDs.
