We know that managing user access and permissions to your device inventory is important, which is why we've introduced several new Device Management user roles.
These new roles, assigned to users from the Kio Cloud Users app, allows organizations to manage device access more precisely, ensuring that every team member has the appropriate permissions for their responsibilities. In addition, the new "Access Manager" role delivers the capability to assign and manage device-level access.
The following is an overview of the new roles.
Inventory Manager role: This role is restricted to managing device inventory — they can claim orders and import external devices. For example, you may have a team that receives Kontakt.io orders or and are responsible for claiming orders to add them to your Kio Cloud account.
Editor All role: This role is restricted to editing all device inventory — they can view and edit device settings, schedule firmware upgrades, view the Firmware Upgrades settings, and install and edit devices from the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
Viewer All role: This role is restricted to viewing all device inventory - they can view devices from Device Management 2.0 and the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
Access Manager role: This role is restricted to assigning device-level access to users - they can add, edit, and remove device access to users from Device Management. This can be helpful when you have a large device inventory and various team members are responsible for only a subset of devices.
Editor role: This role is restricted to editing devices the user has been assigned access to by an Access Manager — for their assigned devices, they can edit device settings, schedule firmware upgrades, view the Firmware Upgrades settings, and install and edit devices from the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
Viewer role: This role is restricted to viewing the devices they have been assigned access to by an Access Manager - from Device Management and the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
Important
The User role has been deprecated. For existing users assigned to the User role, they will no longer have access to all devices. You will need to update their assigned role as Editor All to allow them to access to all devices.

The Edit Device Access feature located in the Bulk option, allows those assigned to the Device Management "Access Manager" role the capability to manage user device-level access.
For those with a Portal Light infrastructure, scheduling firmware upgrades for Kontakt.io Infrastructure and Tag devices now located completed from the Bulk option.
Previously a standalone button, the Export CSV function is now located in the Bulk option. The bulk export provides the capability to export data for all devices or for subset of devices. Exporting devices into a CVS file supports the ability to update multiple device at the same time, which is commonly also referred to as a bulk edit or update.
If your organization has been using the Shared Access feature in the legacy Device Management app, you will need to switch to using the Device Access feature within Device Management 2.0. The legacy Device Management app will be removed from the Kontakt.io Launchpad on September 2, 2024.
