The Evaluate Location tool in the Kio Setup Manager app is particularly helpful when there’s a discrepancy between a Tag's location in Kio Cloud platform, such as within Asset Tracker, and its real-time physical location. With this tool, you select the room where the Tag is physically located and the app compares it its last location reported to the cloud. This lets you quickly spot discrepancies that may indicate an issue with supporting Infrastructure gateways in the space. Once complete, the results can be shared with Kontakt.io Support for further investigation.
Topics include:
-
Smart Location mapping must be complete for the location being evaluated. For example, if the current physical room is 101, this room location must be mapped in Smart Location.
-
Your mobile device must have Bluetooth enabled and a Wi-Fi connection with Internet.
Use Evaluate Location if you want to:
-
Troubleshoot a Tag that appears in the wrong room in a cloud app.
-
Confirm that a Tag reports the correct room after deployment.
-
Verify room-level accuracy when installing or moving Infrastructure gateway devices (Portal Lights, BLE-enabled Access Points).
When you run Evaluate Location:
-
You select the room where the Tag is physically located.
-
The app retrieves the Tag's most recent location data from Kio Cloud.
-
The app compares the two values and shows if they match or if a discrepancy exists.
For example, you might select Room 1 as the current location, but the Tag's last reported location in the cloud is Room 2. This indicates a mismatch that may require checking the infrastructure. If there is a discrepancy, you can share the results with the Kontakt.io support team.
-
Tap Tools > Evaluate Location.
-
Scan the Tag's QR code.
-
Select the Tag's current real-time location, including the campus, building, floor, and room.
The app compares the selected located to its last known location in the cloud and provides a detailed result.
-
To shared the results with Kontakt.io Support, tap Share > email to support@kontakt.io.
Please include details of the current BLE to Wi-Fi gateway infrastructure, that being Portal Lights or a third-party Access Points, located within the room coverage area.
