An entity type defines the category of person or asset a Kio App locates — for example, "IV Pump" or "Nurse." Create one entity type for each category of person or asset in your deployment.
Before you begin
- Administrator role in Company Settings
- Know which Kio Apps will use this entity type
- Know what profile type applies (see Entity type profile types reference)
Steps
Create Entity Type is a three-step wizard. Complete each step in order.
- Open Company Settings from the Kontakt.io Launchpad.
- In the navigation menu, select Entity Management, then select Entity Types.
- Select Create Entity Type.
- In step 1, set the basics:
- Enter a name for the entity type.
- Select a Profile Type.
- Select the Kio Apps that will use entities of this type.
- In step 2, set the status categories and any custom statuses for entities of this type.
- In step 3, add any custom attributes — data fields attached to every entity of this type.
- Select Create.
The entity type appears in the Entity Types list and is available when creating entities.
Note: Set the entity type's icon and color from its details page after creation.
What happens next
Create individual entities of this type using Create Entity, or import entities in bulk using the CSV import. Entities do not appear in Kio Apps until a Tag is assigned to them.
