The profile type tells the platform what kind of thing an entity type represents. It controls which features and behaviors are available for entities of that type.

Choosing the right profile type
Select the profile type that most closely matches the real-world object. The profile type cannot be changed after the entity type is saved.
- Use Mobile Asset for equipment that moves between rooms or floors.
- Use Person for all staff members located by Smart Badge.
- Use Storage Unit and Temperature Monitor only for Temperature Monitoring deployments.
