When you receive a Kontakt.io order, use this guide to install infrastructure devices and activate battery-powered tags before deployment.
Kontakt.io devices fall into two categories:
-
Infrastructure devices are stationary devices mounted to walls or ceilings, such as Portal Lights, Portal Beams, Beam Minis, Anchor Beacons, Dispenser Beacons, and Temp Monitors. Infrastructure devices must be installed using the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
-
Tags are battery-powered devices attached to assets or worn by people, such as Asset Tags, Smart Badges, and Nano Tags. Tags arrive powered off and must be activated before use. For tags, activation means powering on the device or confirming it is already powered on.
Custom orders, such as orders that include Provisioning Services, and Starter Test Kits may arrive from Kontakt.io with tags already powered on and without an Activation Required sticker.
After activation, a tag can be provisioned. Provisioning assigns the tag to an asset or person in the relevant Kio App.
Topics include:
-
Confirm the Kontakt.io Order ID is claimed in Device Management. Claiming an order adds the devices to your Kio Cloud account. Learn how to claim an order.
When integrating with Cisco Spaces, do not claim an Order ID in Kio Cloud. Kontakt.io orders must be claimed directly in your Cisco Spaces account. Learn how to claim an Kontakt.io order in Cisco Spaces.
-
Confirm Smart Location setup is complete: campuses, buildings, floors (with digital floor plans), and rooms.
-
To install infrastructure devices, you must be assigned to a Device Management role. Learn more about these roles.
-
To install Temp Monitors, you must also be assigned to the Device Management Temp Installer role.
Use the Kio Setup Manager mobile app to install infrastructure devices. The app guides you through each step to ensure devices are installed correctly and ready for use.
Tip
If your deployment includes Portal Lights, install them first.
