Asset Types are how assets are categorized within Asset Tracker. It's recommended that the naming convention represents your organization's system of record (e.g., CMMS or Asset Management System). You may have one to many Asset Types, but each asset can only be assigned to one type.
-
You must be assigned to the Asset Tracker Administrator role.
-
Asset Types are displayed in many of the views - allowing users to quickly locate the type of asset they are searching for.
-
An Asset Type's icon and color are managed from its Entity Type within Company Settings. The icon and color provide a visual indicator displayed on floor plan maps.
-
Room Type Entity Type Status and PAR levels rules are set by Asset Type (Entity Type) within Company Settings.
-
Asset Types (Enitty Types) can only be deleted from Company Settings.
-
From your Kio Cloud Launchpad, select Asset Tracker.
-
From the Settings menu, select Asset Types.
-
Select Create Asset Type. You are guided through three setting steps, select Next to navigate through each step.
-
Initial Step: Enter its Name (duplicates are not allowed).
Its Profile Type and Assigned Applications are automatically set by the system.
-
Step 2: Set the Status Descriptor Custom Statuses values.
The Custom Status Values provide a method to set statuses that mirror your organization's asset tracking workflow or business rules.
You can remove the default Custom Status values and add your own; a minimum of one Custom Status value is required. The Status Category values are used by the app's analytic services and cannot be removed or changed.
The Unknown Status Category is excluded from Analytics.
-
Step 3 (optional:) add Attributes.
From here, you'll customize the information needed for each asset assigned to the asset type. When an asset is added and assigned to this asset type, these attributes are added to the asset by default.
Be sure to review the asset settings to ensure attributes do not result in duplication (e.g. manufacturer, models, serial number, and other rental and preventative maintenance settings).
By default, the External ID attribute is added. The purpose of this attribute is to allow asset IDs from your organization's equipment system of record (e.g., CMMS or Asset Management System) to be provided for assets assigned to this asset type. If this is not needed, you can select the Delete icon.
To add an attribute:
Select + ADD NEW FIELD > set the Field Name > set the Field Type > set if Required or Not Required > and enter Info Text to provide details to an app user about this attribute.
Repeat adding fields for each type of attribute.
-
When finished, select Create.
