The Export Wizard in Asset Tracker allows you to download a CSV file of your current asset view, making it easier to review, share, or work with your data outside the platform.
Common use cases include generating a list of assets due for rental return or preventive maintenance, or preparing a CSV file for a bulk update using the Import Wizard. For example, you might export a set of assets that need their Asset Type updated, modify the CSV file, and then re-import it using the Import Wizard to apply the changes.
Topics include:
-
You must be assigned to Asset Tracker Administrator or User role.
-
The Export Wizard can be accessed from both the Asset Management menu and also the Settings > Assets menu.
For the best experience, we recommended accessing the Export Wizard from the Asset Management menu.
The Settings > Assets view displays a maximum of 250 assets, and the Export Wizard only exports the assets currently displayed in the view.
-
To limit the export to specific assets, apply filters before opening the wizard. This allows you to export only the data relevant to your task.
-
From the wizard, you can select and reorder the fields to include in the export to meet your reporting or data requirements
-
Dates in the CSV file follow the YYYY-MM-DD format (e.g., 2025-07-13), adhering to the ISO 8601 standard.
-
If you plan to use the export CSV file to perform a bulk update via the Import Wizard, refer to the section Important guidelines when using third-party apps to update a CSV file to update the CSV file.
-
From the left menu, select Asset Management.
-
(Optional) Apply filters to export specific assets.
-
Select Export Wizard.
-
The wizard includes system-default selected fields.
To customize the data exported, you can:
Select or deselect all columns
Reorder the columns
Select which columns to include or exclude (select a column).
-
(Optional) To include the assets’ custom attributes (user-defined fields based on their Asset Type), enable Export all custom attributes.
In the CSV file, custom attribute columns do no include “Kio” in the column name.
-
When ready, select Export CSV.
The file is automatically downloaded to your computer's default download location.
This section defines each field included in the exported CSV file.
Note
Field names (column headings) must remain unchanged if you plan to use this file to import and update existing assets via the Import Wizard. Modifying a column heading will prevent the import process from recognizing or applying updates correctly.
If Export all custom attributes was enabled during the export, the custom attribute data does not include "Kio" at the beginning of the column name.

When editing CSV files using third-party applications like Excel or Google Sheets, automatic formatting may misinterpret data (e.g., converting long numeric strings to scientific notation), which can lead to errors during import.
Follow these guidelines to ensure compatibility:
-
Open Excel and create a new blank workbook.
-
Go to the Data tab.
-
Select From Text/CSV in the Get External Data section.
-
Locate and import your CSV file.
-
For each column, set the data type to Text. By specifying the columns as a text format, Excel preserves the original data format.
Do not select General or any other format.
