The Kio Cloud is a suite of apps for managing Kontakt.io IoT devices, location topology, user access, and the Kio Apps shared components.
-
AI Location Engine: Computes accurate, room-level data for Kontakt.io's RTLS, occupancy, and indoor navigation solutions.
-
Smart Location: Manage the mapping of the physical locations where Kontakt.io solutions and IoT devices are deployed. Smart Location consists of the following:
Mapped location topology: A hierarchical mapping consisting of campuses, buildings, floors along with digital floorplans, and rooms.Used by the AI Location engine to compute accurate, room-level data for Kontakt.io's RTLS, occupancy, and indoor navigation solutions.
Departments: Group rooms for use across the Kio Apps.
Spaces: Group rooms or seats for use with the Kio Workspace Insights app.
Footfall: Locations that identify the floors where people footfall occupancy is measured by a Kontakt.io Portal Beam. For use with the Kio Workspace Insights app.
-
Company Settings: Manage the Kio Apps' shared components,
Entity Management: Manage Entity Types (staff roles, asset types) and Entities (staff, assets). Staff Roles and staff support Kio People Safety and workflow apps; Asset Types and assets support RTLS apps like Asset Tracker, IV Pump, and Wheelchair Manager.
Room Types are the categorization of the different areas within your facility (for example, Clean Storage, Patient Room). From each Room Type, an Entity Type Rule can be set by Asset Type. These rules define the status of assets when they enter a room matched to a Room Type.
Room Matching associates each of your facility's Smart Location rooms with a Room Type. By matching rooms to their corresponding Room Type, the system knows exactly which room-level status rules to apply as assets or people move from one room to another.
-
Entity Manager: A companion to Company Settings that provides only Entity Management—add/edit entities and assign tags.
-
Users: Manage who has access to the platform's apps.
The Users app employs role-based permissions to ensure appropriate access is granted to users based on their responsibilities. You can also grant users access to all campuses or specific campuses—this is especially helpful if you have a a large number of campuses and need to control the campuses users have access to across the platform.
For those that have integrated Single-sign On (SSO), administrators have visibility into the app roles mapped to your identity provider's SSO Groups and each user's assigned SSO Groups.
-
Device Management 2.0: Manage Kontakt.io IoT devices.
This includes claiming Kontakt.io orders, managing device settings, getting insights into device inventory, and keeping devices up-to-date with the latest firmware.

Asset Tracker is designed for scalability and ease of use while providing a comprehensive tool for administrators, stakeholders, and staff needing to locate and manage tracked assets.
The following provides an overview of the key concepts and terminology.
-
Asset Types are how assets are categorized to deliver metrics and support configuration requirements.
Each asset is required to be assigned to an Asset Type and assets can only be assigned to one type. Asset Types can be also managed from the Company Settings app, where they are identified as Entity Types.
-
Assets are the tracked equipment inventory—Kontakt.io Tags are assigned to and attached to each asset.
Each asset has a unique profile that includes its settings, assigned tag, and location details. Assets can also be managed from Company Settings and Entity Manager, where they are identified as Entities.
-
Asset Groups ,which are optional, provide an additional method to segment assets.
Assets can assigned to one or multiple groups and users can search and locate assets by group. In addition, groups can also be assigned to Alert Rules.
-
Alert Rules provide a method to notify staff when an asset enters or exits a location or when PAR Levels reach a critical threshold.
A rule includes the alert type (Location or PAR Level), the location being monitored, the assets which can be asset types or specific assets, and who receives notifications when the monitored condition is reached. Alert notifications can be delivered via email, SMS text, or integrated with third-party systems using Webhooks. Webhooks are managed from Company Settings and assigned to Alert Rules.
-
Alerts are what have been activated by an Alert Rule when its monitored condition has been reached—such as when an asset enters or exit a location or when a PAR Level has reached a critical level.
Alerts follow a lifecycle—acknowledged and resolved by users—and all activity is logged for reporting and analytics.
-
Room Types and Room Matching are Kio Apps shared components managed from Company Settings—with view-only access within Asset Tracker.
These components work together to automate asset statuses by their real-time room location and delivers room type analytics.
