Room matching assigns a room type to a specific Smart Location room. Once matched, the room takes on that room type's classification and rules, which Kio Apps use to automate entity statuses, apply PAR levels, and report on the space by type.
Before you begin
- Administrator role in Company Settings
- Rooms drawn in Smart Location on at least one floor
- At least one room type created in Company Settings
Steps
- Open Company Settings from the Kontakt.io Launchpad.
- In the navigation menu, select Room Management, then select Room Matching.
- Use the floor filter to select the floor containing the room you want to match.
- In the All Rooms tab, locate the room.
- Select Assign Room Type.
- Select a room type from the list.
- If you use the Kio Workspace Insights app, select an Occupancy Method. This is only used by Workspace Insights and is not required for other Kio Apps:
- People in Room — occupancy based on Tags detected within the room boundary.
- Occupied Workstations — occupancy based on occupied seats.
- Footfall — occupancy based on entries and exits counted by a Footfall Space. If you select this option, also select the Footfall Space to link.
- Select Save.
The room moves to the Matched Rooms tab with its assigned room type.
What happens next
Once matched, the room inherits the rules defined on its room type — entity status rules, PAR levels, and workplace rules. Kio Apps can then act on it by type: an entity's status can update automatically based on the room it's in, and, for the Kio Workspace Insights app, occupancy is reported for the space. If the room does not appear as expected in a Kio App, confirm the app is active on the account and the room type is configured correctly.
