Room matching assigns Smart Location rooms to room types. For deployments with many rooms, CSV import lets you assign room types to multiple rooms at once instead of matching them one at a time on the Room Matching page.
This is a different import from the room type import. Room type import creates the room types themselves; room matching import assigns existing rooms to existing room types.
Before you begin
- Administrator role in Company Settings
- Room types already created (see Create a room type)
- Smart Location rooms drawn on at least one floor
- CSV file prepared using the Company Settings room matching import template
Steps
Open Company Settings from the Kontakt.io Launchpad.
In the navigation menu, select Room Management, then select Room Matching.
-
Select Import Wizard.
Note: If you don't see Import Wizard on the Room Matching page, the import wizard may not be enabled for your Kio Cloud account. To request it, submit a support request.
Download the import template if you have not already done so.
Complete the template. Each row identifies a room and the room type to match it to. The template includes columns that identify the room and its location (such as room, floor, building, and campus) and the room type to assign. It can also include occupancy and PAR-related columns for the match.
Save the file.
Upload the completed CSV file.
Review any import errors — the import wizard reports which rows failed and why.
Select Confirm to complete the import.
Successfully matched rooms appear on the Room Matching page, assigned to their room types. Each matched room inherits the rules defined on its room type.
If the import fails
Row-level errors appear in the import wizard. Common causes:
- A room cannot be identified from the values in the row
- The room type name does not match an existing room type exactly
Correct the errors in the CSV file and import again.
