Workplace rules set a room type's maximum and target occupancy and classify it as a collaboration or concentration space. The Kio Workspace Insights app uses these rules to measure and report on space usage. The rules apply to every room matched to the room type.
Before you begin
- Administrator role in Company Settings
- The room type exists. See Create a room type.
- Rooms are matched to the room type. See Match rooms to room types. Matching is required for the workplace rules to apply.
Steps
- Open Company Settings from the Kontakt.io Launchpad.
- Select Room Management, then select Room Types.
- Select the Name of the room type.
- Select the Workplace tab, then select Edit.
- Enter the settings:
- Max Capacity: The maximum number of people a room of this type can hold. For a collaboration space, this is the room's capacity — for example, 10 for a medium conference room with 10 seats. For a concentration space, this is the number of seats.
- Target Occupancy: The intended number of people occupying the space. Must be equal to or lower than Max Capacity.
- Workplace Type: Choose Collaboration for shared spaces used by more than one person, such as conference rooms, meeting rooms, or cafeterias. Choose Concentration for individual focused-work spaces, such as desks or private work areas.
- Select Save.
Note: A Kontakt.io Portal Beam installed in the room measures room occupancy for collaboration spaces and seat occupancy for concentration spaces.
What happens next
The workplace rules apply to every room matched to this room type, and Workspace Insights begins reporting occupancy against them. Repeat these steps for each room type. You can also set and manage workplace rules from the Workspace Insights app.
