The Occupancy Method applies only to the Kio Workspace Insights app; it is not required for other Kio Apps. When matching a room to a room type, you can set the method that tells Workspace Insights how to measure occupancy in that space. The correct method depends on what hardware is installed and what the room is used for.
| Method | How it works | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| People in Room | Counts Tags detected within the room boundary in Smart Location | Rooms where staff or patients carry Smart Badges or where assets with Tags are present |
| Occupied Workstations | Counts occupied desk or workstation seats | Open-plan offices and desk areas where individual seat occupancy is measured |
| Footfall | Counts entries and exits using a linked Footfall Space | Rooms or corridors where directional traffic count is needed rather than presence; requires a Footfall Space configured in Smart Location |
Footfall Space requirement
If you select Footfall as the occupancy method, you must also select a Footfall Space to link to the matched room. Footfall Spaces are created in Smart Location. If no Footfall Space is available, create one in Smart Location before completing the room match.
