Use this quick install guide as an on-site reference when installing a Temp Monitor Lite. It covers what to prepare, how to power on the device, where to place it, how to sign in to Kio Setup Manager, and how to complete the install flow. The Lite is self-contained, with no probes, display, or audible alarm, only a power button and LED indicator.
The Temp Monitor Lite can be installed to monitor either a Room or a Storage Unit. For a Room, it monitors ambient temperature and humidity. For a Storage Unit, it monitors temperature and humidity inside the unit.

Power on the Temp Monitor Lite
- Long-press the power button for 5 seconds. The device powers on and begins its startup sequence.
- LED stays solid for now. The Lite is in Paused Mode until you install it. The LED begins to blink only after install completes (green if monitoring is in range).
Placement requirements
Place the Temp Monitor Lite in its final position after completing the install from the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
Storage Unit
- Place on the middle shelf, in the middle third of the cabinet with stored contents around the device but free airflow around it.
- Do not place in the door, in drawers, directly under a vent, against a wall, or in areas with condensation, ice buildup, or direct fan discharge.
- Refrigerator: middle shelf, center area, mid-depth.
- Freezer: same starting point. Temperature gradients are stronger in freezers, so placement accuracy matters more.
- Under-counter unit: center of the usable storage area. Validate placement carefully.
- Warmer: avoid heater outlets, hot walls, and direct forced-air discharge.
Room
- Wall-mount at eye level, like a thermostat. The device is designed to be wall-mounted; do not lay it flat.
- Avoid hot or humid air, equipment that exhausts hot air, and sinks where steam may skew readings.
- Avoid air ducts, windows, exterior walls, room entrances, direct sunlight, radiant heat, vibration, or electrical noise.
- Ensure free airflow around the device.
Sign in to Kio Setup Manager
Sign-in happens each time you open Kio Setup Manager. The app remembers your Sign in Method and Region from your previous session, so on subsequent sign-ins you re-enter only the Tenant ID and your credentials.
Tip: Make sure Kio Setup Manager is updated to the latest version. Check for updates in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Open Kio Setup Manager and tap Sign in Method > Kio Cloud Account. (Cisco Spaces Account only applies to tenants integrated with Cisco Spaces.)
- Choose your Region: United States or United Kingdom. (Use Custom Region only when instructed by Kontakt.io Support.)
- Enter your Tenant ID and tap Next. For non-tenant accounts, tap I don't have a Tenant ID.
- Sign in with your Kio Cloud credentials:
- SSO: redirected to your organization's identity provider. Complete sign-in there and you will be returned to the app.
- Email and password: enter your Kio Cloud email and password, then tap Sign In.
Note: If sign-in fails, check that the Tenant ID and Region are correct and confirm your user profile is assigned to the Device Management Temp Monitor Installer (iOS) or Setup Manager (mobile) Temp Monitor Installer (Android) role. Roles are assigned in the Users app by a User Management Administrator.

- Status should reach Online within a few minutes. If it shows Alert setup required, flag to your administrator.
LED at a glance
The LED is the only local indicator on the Lite; there is no display and no audible alarm. Check the LED at the device to know what is happening.
| LED | What it means |
|---|---|
| Blinking green | Monitoring normally; no active alert |
| Blinking red | Active alert or hardware error |
| Blinking yellow | Battery getting low; no active alert |
| Not blinking | Paused, startup period after installation or restart, or just powered on |
Important: The Lite signals alerts visually only. The LED blinks red when an excursion or hardware error is active.
