Alert status values – Knowledge Base

This reference describes the statuses an alert can carry and what each one means for your response. Every alert has two independent statuses: an alert status that tracks the human response, and a condition status that tracks the underlying problem. Read both together.

Alert status

The alert status tracks where the alert is in the response.

Status	Meaning	What to do
New	The alert was triggered and no one has acknowledged it.	Acknowledge the alert and begin corrective action.
Acknowledged	A responder has confirmed they are handling the alert.	Complete corrective action, then resolve the alert.
Escalated	The alert was not acknowledged or resolved in time, and an additional group was notified.	A responder in the escalation group acknowledges and resolves the alert.
Resolved	A responder closed the alert and recorded the corrective action.	No action. The alert leaves the active list. A new condition creates a new alert.

Note: Escalated appears only if alert escalation is enabled for your organization's Kio account.

Condition status

The condition status tracks whether the underlying problem is still happening.

Status	Meaning	What to do
Condition active	The reading is still outside the threshold, or the device issue is still present.	Take corrective action to return the Storage Unit or Room to its normal range or fix the Monitor.
Back to normal	The reading has returned within the threshold, or the device issue has cleared.	Resolve the alert. Returning to normal does not close the alert.

How the two statuses combine

Alert status	Condition status	What it means
New	Condition active	A problem is happening and no one has responded yet. Act now.
Acknowledged	Condition active	Someone is handling a problem that is still occurring.
Acknowledged	Back to normal	The problem cleared and a responder is finishing corrective action and documentation.
New	Back to normal	The reading recovered on its own; the alert still needs to be resolved.

An alert is never closed by the condition returning to normal. A person resolves every alert.
