From Kio Cloud Device Management, you can remotely manage and monitor your Kontakt.io beacons, tags, badges, and Portal Beams.
Topics include:
From your Launchpad, select Device Management > from the left menu, select Beacons. The list view provides a snapshot of each beacon's status indicator and primary settings.

Description |
---|---|
Status indicator |
FMW (blue) SYNC (grey) icon FMW (grey) SYNC (grey) icon SYNC (orange) icon |
Id (Name) |
Kontakt.io Unique ID (UUID). Select the link to view its profile. |
MAC |
Unique 12-character MAC address. |
Product |
Kontakt.io device model. |
Profile |
Identifies if the iBeacon device packet is enabled. |
Tags |
Identifies tags associated to the device. |
Battery |
Last reported battery level. |
TX Power |
Current setting value. |
Interval (ms) |
Current TX Power Interval setting value. |
Major & Minor |
iBeacons numbers assigned to the beacon. Identifies the device with greater accuracy than using UUID alone. Minor and Major are unsigned integer values between 0 and 65535. iBeacon standard requires both a Major and Minor value to be assigned. |
Order ID |
Kontakt.io Order ID associated to the device. |
Note
By default, only the account owner (Superuser) has access to view and edit all beacon devices. Sharing a device grants a user the required permission to access a device.
If a beacon device is not listed, this commonly indicates you have not been assigned shared access to the device.
Each beacon has a profile where you can view and manage its settings.
To view the profile of a beacon, from the Device Management list view, select the beacon's ID/Name. Its profile settings are categorized by the tabs displayed. The tabs available do vary by each beacon model.
Displays the beacon's current firmware version, battery level, last connection, password, and MAC address.

Air sensor |
An air sensor measures various chemical readings that is used to calculate the Air Quality Index (AQI).

Light sensor |
A light sensor measures the light resulting in the light level intensity reading. Measured in percent - 1 to 100%.

You can manage a when a beacon broadcasts by enabling an available Power Saving mode, which does vary by beacon model. When in a Power Saving mode, a beacon consumes less power to extend its battery lifespan. For complete details, see Beacon power saving management.
Power Saving mode |
Definition |
---|---|
Active broadcasting windows |
When set to ON, set the number of seconds the beacon is in advertising mode and sleep mode. |
Movement based broadcasting |
When set to ON, if movement is not detected the beacon automatically enters Power Saving mode. During Power Saving mode, the beacon broadcasts less frequently (every 2 to 10 seconds). |
Working hours |
When set to ON, the beacon only broadcasts between the hour time period(s) set in each day. Be sure to set the local Time Zone. |
When this feature is turned on and the beacon downloads the configuration change, it gets a new UUID and starts broadcasting randomly generated Major and Minor values.
Be sure your infrastructure is ready before enabling this feature. To learn more, see Secure Shuffling.
The sharing tab is where you'll view and assign users sharing permissions to access the beacon device. To learn how, see Assign beacon sharing permissions.
By default, only the account owner (Superuser) has access to view and edit all beacon devices. Sharing a device grants a user the required permission to access a device.
For our developer community that integrates with the Kontakt.io APIs and SDKs, each Kio Cloud user has a unique API key that includes their shared device permissions.
Change Owner (Assign to subordinate): a device can only have one owner. An owner has permission to share, view, and edit a device.
Share with viewer permissions: user is limited to viewing the device.
Share with editor permissions: user can edit and configure the device.
Move to other company: should be used with caution and under the direction of Kontakt.io. When selected, moves the device to a different Kio Cloud account (company). When a device is moved, you're transferring ownership of the device and the device is removed from the current Kio Cloud account.
When a setting configuration change is made to a beacon from Kio Cloud or the Device Management API, the beacon is set to a Pending Update status and must be synchronized to receive the update. From the Beacons list view, a SYNC icon indicates a beacon has a pending update.
A beacon can synchronize to receive and apply Kio Cloud pending updates from either of the following methods. For complete details, see About synchronizing beacon and gateway pending updates.
Locally from the Kio Setup Manager app.
From an in-range Kontakt.io Portal Light.
From a third-party app integrated with Kontakt.io SDKs.
You can filter by the beacon model, current firmware version, battery level, and last seen date. The Advanced Search provides more options when you're looking for a specific beacon, including by UUID, MAC address, and more.
You can also use filtering to provide insight into the health of your devices - identify devices that have low battery levels or have not transmitted data to Kio Cloud.
From the Bulk Edit option, you can update the settings for multiple beacons at the same time. When different product models are selected, the settings available are limited to common beacon settings.
