The Deployment Status setting tracks where each Kontakt.io device is in its lifecycle — whether it's deployed and in use, waiting to be deployed, or retired and taken out of inventory.
Why the Deployment Status matters
Keeping each device's Deployment Status up-to-date helps you manage and monitor your inventory:
Manage your inventory. You can see at a glance which devices are in use, which are waiting to be deployed, and which have been retired or returned. Deployment teams can track which devices are installed and which are waiting to be installed.
Plan replacements. When you know where each device is in its lifecycle, you can decide when to retire devices and when to order replacements. Setting a device to End Of Life keeps a record of which devices have been retired.
Note: When you assign a Kontakt.io Infrastructure device to its installation location in Smart Location, or install it with the Kio Setup Manager, its Deployment Status is set to Deployed automatically.
What each Deployment Status means
The Deployment Status setting has three values, one for each point in a device's lifecycle:
-
To Be Deployed: the device is waiting to be installed and isn't in use yet.
When this setting was released, every device was set to To Be Deployed. When you add devices by claiming a Kontakt.io Order ID, those devices are set to To Be Deployed too.
Deployed: the device is installed and in use.
End Of Life: the device has reached the end of its useful life and should be retired or replaced.
Add the Deployment Status column to the Tags or Infrastructure list
In the Tags and Infrastructure lists, use Customize Table to add the Deployment Status column.
The first time you add this column, select Restore Default to display the Deployment Status setting.
Filter devices by Deployment Status
To see only the devices in a specific status, set the Search & Filter Criteria to Deployment Status, then select a status from the filter. The same options are available in both the Tags and Infrastructure lists.
Update the Deployment Status for a single device
A device's Deployment Status is in the Deployment section of its General tab.
From the Inventory menu, select Tags or Infrastructure.
Select the device's ID.
On the General tab, scroll to the Deployment section, set the Deployment Status, then select Save.
Deployment details
The Deployment section also has fields for recording who installed the device and when. They're informational and stored in Kio Cloud alongside the Deployment Status:
Installer Name: the name of the person who installed the device.
Installer Email: the email address of the person who installed the device.
Deployment Date: the date the device was deployed.
Note: Some Infrastructure device types also show a Room Number field in this section. Room Number is a device setting used for IR-based room identification, not part of the deployment record — it appears only for devices that support it, not for Tags.
Update the Deployment Status for many devices at once
To update the Deployment Status for a handful to hundreds of devices, use the Export (Download CSV) and Import CSV features. See Update multiple devices with a CSV file (bulk edit).
In the CSV file you import, supply the Deployment Status in one of these formats:
TO_BE_DEPLOYEDDEPLOYEDEND_OF_LIFE
