This reference describes what a Storage Unit Type defines and where each part is managed. A Storage Unit Type categorizes Storage Units so Temperature Monitoring can filter and group them in the Monitoring view and reports. Every Storage Unit is assigned exactly one type.

Where Storage Unit Types live in the platform
A Storage Unit Type is the same record as an Entity Type in Kio Cloud Company Settings. Temperature Monitoring shows it as a Storage Unit Type; Company Settings shows it as an Entity Type. Day-to-day naming and attributes can be edited in either place. The icon, color, and status definitions are edited only from the Entity Type in Company Settings.
