Edit a Storage Unit to correct its External ID or name, change its Storage Unit Type, or change the assigned Threshold Setting. Delete a Storage Unit when the unit is retired and you no longer monitor it.
Before you begin
- You are signed in with a role that can manage Storage Units: Administrator or System Manager in Temperature Monitoring, or Company Settings Administrator in Company Settings.
Edit a Storage Unit
You edit a Storage Unit in place on its detail page, on the Main tab.
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Temperature Monitoring.
- Select Monitoring, then open the Storage Units tab.
- Select the Storage Unit you want to change to open its detail page.
- On the Main tab, select Edit.
- Update the External ID, Name, Storage Unit Type, or assigned Threshold Setting.
- Select Save.
To assign or change the Threshold Setting only, see Assign a Threshold Setting to a Storage Unit.
Delete a Storage Unit
Temperature Monitoring does not delete Storage Units. A Storage Unit is an Entity, so you delete it from Entity Management in Kio Cloud Company Settings with the Company Settings Administrator role.
If a Monitor is still installed for the unit, deactivate or reassign the Monitor first so the device is not left assigned to a record that no longer exists.
Result
Your Storage Unit list reflects the change. An edited Storage Unit keeps its history; a deleted Storage Unit is removed from the Monitoring view.
Note: Keep the measurement and alert records you need for compliance before deleting a Storage Unit. Generate any reports you require first. See About reports.
