Importing from a CSV file adds many Storage Units at once. Use a CSV import during initial setup, or whenever you need to add many units at once, instead of creating each Storage Unit by hand.
Before you begin
- You are signed in with a role that can manage Storage Units: Administrator or System Manager in Temperature Monitoring, or Company Settings Administrator in Company Settings.
- Smart Location is set up, so the rooms you reference in the file exist.
- The Storage Unit Types you reference already exist. See Create Storage Unit Types.
Steps
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Temperature Monitoring.
- Select Monitoring, then open the Storage Units tab.
- Select Actions > Import, then download the import template.
- Fill in the template, one Storage Unit per row. Complete every column the template provides, including a unique External ID for each unit.
- Save the file in CSV format.
- Select Import again and upload your completed file.
- Review the validation results. The import reports any rows it could not process, such as a location or Storage Unit Type that does not match an existing one.
- Correct any flagged rows in the file and import them again if needed.
Result
The Storage Units appear in Temperature Monitoring with the status Threshold setup required. Next, for each Storage Unit install a Temp Monitor using the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
Note: The import matches each row to a Storage Unit by its External ID, which must be unique. Locations and Storage Unit Types are matched by their existing names; a value that does not match an existing record causes that row to fail rather than creating a new location or type.
