A Monitor is the Kontakt.io device that measures temperature and humidity and reports each reading to Temperature Monitoring. Every Storage Unit and Room you monitor has a Monitor installed and assigned to it. Without a Monitor, a Storage Unit or Room has no readings, and Temperature Monitoring shows it as Monitor setup required.
Temperature Monitoring uses two Monitor models, chosen to fit where they are installed and what they measure.

Choose the Temp Monitor Pro where you need probe placement inside a unit, a local display, or a local audible alarm. Choose the Temp Monitor Lite for a compact, self-contained sensor inside a unit or for ambient room monitoring.
Probes (Temp Monitor Pro)
A probe is an external sensor on a flexible cable that goes inside the Storage Unit while the Monitor stays outside. A Temp Monitor Pro supports one or two probes, each assigned to its own Storage Unit and Threshold Setting. Each probe is NIST-certified, so the readings carry traceable calibration for compliance.
Probes are sensitive to placement. Moving a probe after installation can disconnect it, which sets the Monitor's status to Probe disconnected and can trigger an alert. Place the probe once, during installation, and leave it in place.
How a Monitor is installed
Monitors are installed on-site with the Kio Setup Manager mobile app, not from the Temperature Monitoring web app. During installation, the installer connects to the Monitor over Bluetooth, chooses whether it monitors a Storage Unit, a Room, or both, assigns it to the Storage Unit or Room, and assigns a Threshold Setting. The Storage Unit must already exist, and for a Room, a Monitor installation is what makes the Room appear in Temperature Monitoring.
How a Monitor reports
A Monitor sends its readings to Temperature Monitoring through the gateways in your facility—Portal Lights or Bluetooth-compatible Wi-Fi access points. A Monitor also stores readings locally, so if it loses its connection, the readings it took while offline sync to the cloud once the connection returns. The Monitor compares each reading to its assigned threshold on the device itself, which is how the Temp Monitor Pro can show and sound a local alert even without a connection.
The Monitor profile in the web app
You install and configure a Monitor in Kio Setup Manager, but you view it in the Devices section of the Temperature Monitoring web app. Selecting a Monitor opens its profile, which has three tabs:
- Main: the Monitor's current status, model, assigned Storage Unit or Room, and Threshold Setting.
- Measurement History: a chart of the Monitor's readings over time, with a date-range selector.
- Alerts: every alert for the Monitor, both active (open) and resolved, with each alert's status, activity, and resolution details. Filter the list by status or alert rule.
From the profile you can also download the Monitor's calibration certificate and export its monitoring data. Device-level changes are still made in Kio Setup Manager.
