If the Kio Setup Manager mobile app does not discover the Temp Monitor you are trying to install, the cause is usually a permission, a missing role, or the device being out of range. The Monitor itself is rarely at fault. This article covers the common causes and how to resolve each one.
Before you troubleshoot
Confirm the basics in under a minute:
- The Monitor is powered on.
- You are within a few meters of the Monitor.
- Bluetooth is turned on for your mobile device.
- Your mobile device has an internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular).
Tip: Make sure Kio Setup Manager is updated to the latest version. Check for updates in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Causes and resolutions
| Symptom | Likely cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature Monitor is missing from the product list | You do not have the installer role | See The installer role is missing. |
| No devices appear when scanning | Bluetooth or Location permission is denied | See Bluetooth or Location permission is denied. |
| Other devices appear, but not this Monitor | Out of range, not powered, or not claimed | See The Monitor is out of range or not claimed. |
The installer role is missing
If Temperature Monitor does not appear as a product you can install, you are missing the required role.
- Confirm with your Kio User Management Administrator that you have both a Temperature Monitoring role with install access (Administrator, System Manager, or Facilities Manager) and the Kio Setup Manager installer role for your platform (see Temperature Monitoring user roles).
- Sign out of Kio Setup Manager and sign back in. Role changes take effect at next sign-in.
Bluetooth or Location permission is denied
Kio Setup Manager needs both Bluetooth and Location permission to find nearby devices. Location is required for Bluetooth ranging, not for GPS tracking. With either denied, no devices appear no matter how close you are.
- Open your mobile device's Settings app.
- Confirm Bluetooth is on.
- Grant Kio Setup Manager permission to use Bluetooth and Location.
- Return to Kio Setup Manager and scan again.
The Monitor is out of range or not claimed
- Move within a few meters of the Monitor and scan again.
- Confirm the Monitor is powered on.
- Confirm the Monitor's order is claimed in Device Management. A device that is not claimed to your account does not appear.
If the issue persists
If the Monitor still does not appear after these checks, contact Kontakt.io support. Include the Monitor's Unique ID, your mobile device model and OS version, and whether other devices appear when you scan.
