If you finished installing a Monitor in the Kio Setup Manager mobile app but the Storage Unit or Room does not appear in Temperature Monitoring, or appears with no readings, work through the checks below. The cause is usually an incomplete installation, a normal startup delay, or a missing prerequisite.
Tip: Make sure Kio Setup Manager is updated to the latest version. Check for updates in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Confirm the installation completed
If the install ended on the success screen and you confirmed the summary, the device is registered. If you exited before confirming, the assignment may not have saved.
- In Kio Setup Manager, find the device and open its details.
- Confirm it shows the correct Storage Unit or Room assignment.
- If the assignment is missing, perform the installation again using Reconfigure Device.
Wait for the first reading
After a successful install, there is a short delay before readings appear:
- A 5-minute alert arming delay applies before threshold alerts can trigger.
- The first reading can take up to the device's logging interval, 15 minutes by default, to appear.
Wait at least 15 minutes before concluding readings are missing.
Check the gateway connection
Monitors report through gateways: Portal Lights or compatible Bluetooth-enabled access points. With no gateway online in range, no readings reach Temperature Monitoring.
- Confirm at least one gateway is online in the room.
- In Kio Cloud, open Device Management and check the gateway status for that location.
- If no gateway is online, contact your IT team or Kontakt.io support.
Confirm the room exists in Smart Location
A Room appears in Temperature Monitoring only after a Monitor is assigned to it, and the room must exist in Smart Location for the assignment to complete.
- In Kio Cloud, open Smart Location and confirm the room exists on the correct floor with a department assigned.
- If it is missing, create it, then reassign the Monitor with Reconfigure Device.
Confirm the Storage Unit existed before install
A Storage Unit must exist before a Monitor can be assigned to it. If it was not created first, it would not have appeared in the install flow.
- In Temperature Monitoring, confirm the Storage Unit exists.
- If it does not, create it, then assign the Monitor with Reconfigure Device.
Synchronize the device
If the configuration saved but readings still are not appearing, send the configuration from the device.
- In Kio Setup Manager, find the Monitor and select Synchronize Data.
- Wait for the sync, then check Temperature Monitoring.
If the status stays Data out of sync after 10 minutes, reconfigure the Monitor. See Troubleshooting: Threshold change not syncing.
If the issue continues
Contact Kontakt.io support with the device Unique ID and MAC address, the Storage Unit or Room name, and the campus, building, floor, and room assigned during installation.
