A Temp Monitor Pro or Temp Monitor Lite shows the Sensor failure status when its internal sensor stops working correctly, so its readings may be unreliable. Use this article when a Monitor shows Sensor failure in the Devices view—or a Storage Unit or Room it serves shows it in the Monitoring view—and, if an Alert Rule covers that location, a Hardware error alert has triggered.
What it means
From the Monitor in Temperature Monitor, it will be in the Sensor failure status, which also applies to its assigned Storage Unit or Room.
If an Alert Rule covers that Storage Unit or Room, the sensor error also triggers a Hardware error alert through its Sensor error condition. That alert has two independent statuses: its condition status stays Condition Active until the sensor error clears, then changes to Back to normal; its alert status stays open until a person resolves it to record the corrective action for your audit history.
Resolve it
-
Power cycle the Monitor.
- Temp Monitor Pro: press and hold the left and right buttons together for 5 seconds to restart the device.
- Temp Monitor Lite: Power-cycle steps pending — confirming with engineering.
If power cycling does not resolve it, replace the Monitor to resume reliable monitoring, and contact Kontakt.io Support. See Replace a Monitor.
After the sensor error clears—or the Monitor is replaced—the Hardware error alert's condition status returns to Back to normal. Resolve the alert to close it and record what you did.
