Manage Alert Rules more easily
Apps: Staff Safe, Temperature Monitoring, Asset Tracker, Hand Hygiene, Device Health
Release date: November 2, 2026
What changed:
Alert Rules list:
- Status comes first. Each rule shows its toggle with Enabled or Disabled, so it's clear at a glance which rules are enabled. Disabled rules are grayed out and trigger no alerts, so enabling or disabling a rule now asks you to confirm.
- More details in each column. Name now shows each rule's severity level and alert type under its name, replacing the separate Severity and Alert Type columns. Notifications replaces Actions and shows how notifications are sent and any reminders. The new Updated column shows when each rule was changed and who made the update.
- Add, remove, and move columns. Select + to add or remove columns, including an optional Created column. Drag columns into a different order. Your choices are saved in your browser.
- Sort by name. Select the Name column header to sort the list.
- Filters. Select Filters to show only Enabled or Disabled rules, or rules of one alert type.
Creating and editing Alert Rules:
- The whole rule at a glance. Select a rule's name and it opens on its Summary, with a card for each type of setting. Select a card's edit icon to go straight to that step.
- Easier to move between steps. Back and Next are always in the same place. Your browser's back button returns to the previous step instead of the Alert Rules list.
- Enable after saving. New rules have this option at the top of the page, selected by default, so a new rule is enabled and monitoring as soon as it's saved.
- Updated defaults. New Staff Safe and Temperature Monitoring rules default to the Critical severity level, and new Staff Safe rules default to Any Button.
- Clearer conditions. Condition settings have plain labels. For example, Staff must press in Staff Safe, or Refill level threshold in Hand Hygiene.
- A clearer Actions step. Notifications, Reminders, and Escalations each have their own section. Reminder options have clearer names, such as Resend configured notifications, and an escalation's Then setting is now Trigger, where you select the Escalation Alert Rule. In Staff Safe and Temperature Monitoring, the step also shows the sound and banner in the web app for Critical rules.
- No surprise changes. Before you save, a confirmation lists the sections that will change. If you leave the page with unsaved changes, you're asked to confirm first.
The video (about 2 minutes, with narration) shows these updates in Staff Safe. The other apps have the same updated editor, with settings specific to each app.
What you need to do: Nothing. Existing rules, including their settings, recipients, and status, are not changed. See Alert Rules in your app: Staff Safe · Temperature Monitoring · Asset Tracker · Hand Hygiene · Device Health
Offline tag status and clearer tag details on asset and staff profiles
Apps: Asset Tracker, Staff Safe, Hand Hygiene, Company Settings, Entity Manager
Release date: November 2, 2026
What changed: The tag status Lost is now Offline. Asset and staff profiles also show the assigned tag's status and identifiers, and a Current location unknown warning when the current location isn't known. If you have access to Device Management, select the link next to the tag's MAC address to open the tag there.
Why it matters: Lost made it sound like the asset or staff member was missing, when only the tag had stopped reporting. Offline means the tag hasn't reported its location recently. While a tag is Offline, the profile shows its previous location: the last location the tag reported, with the date and time when they're available.
What you need to do: Nothing. The status has a new name but the same meaning, and your saved filters and searches keep working.
A fresh look for our mobile apps
Apps: Kio Setup Manager, Kio Staff Safe Alerts, Kio Entity Manager, Kio Nurse Assistant
We've refreshed the look of our mobile apps with an updated purple color palette that reflects our evolving brand identity.
What changed: Our familiar green app icons are now purple, and the apps use the same purple color palette in their screens, for a consistent look across our mobile apps.
What you need to do: If you haven't already, update your Kio mobile apps to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.

Best practice spotlight: Give Asset Tag tape time to reach full strength
Devices: Asset Tag 2, Asset Tag 2 Mini
Asset Tags come with 3M VHB double-sided tape. It holds as soon as it's pressed on, but it keeps bonding for up to about 72 hours. To attach a tag, clean and dry the surface, then press the tag firmly with steady, downward pressure for about 10 seconds.
| Time after application | Approximate bond strength |
|---|---|
| 20 minutes | 50% |
| 24 hours | 90% |
| 72 hours | 100% |
These are 3M's published values for 3M VHB Tape 4910 at room temperature. The bond builds faster when it's warmer and slower when it's cooler.
While the bond builds, avoid pulling on the tag or scrubbing around it. For the full instructions, see Attach tags to assets and Asset Tag placement guidelines and instructions.
